In 2024, a Lancet commission of 27 leading dementia researchers reviewed every modifiable risk factor for cognitive decline. The single largest one was not diet, exercise, or alcohol. It was hearing loss. And in a landmark 2023 trial, hearing aids reduced cognitive decline by 48% in high-risk older adults over three years.
